The theme of CodinGuru is to promote the programming skills of an individual on a whole new level. The event is a great opportunity for the students to test their skills as programmers and to find out where they currently stand with respect to some of the other proficient programmers. The competition is based on testing the programming knowledge as well as the problem-solving abilities of the contestants. It is a real challenge for the programming intellectuals in a tough competitive environment. They are allowed to work in three programming languages: C++, Java and Python. They were tested by the Auto-graders developed by team IEEE, in order to prevent any biased among the competing teams. At CodinGuru 2.0, IEEE LUMS got 52 teams (2 members each) registered for CodinGuru. The event was a great success and was greatly appreciated by the Computer Science Department of LUMS. Prizes were given to participant teams: Rs.30,000/- to winner, Rs.20,000/- to 1st runner up and Rs.10,000/- to 2nd runner up.
The programming competition, with the highest number of teams, biggest cash prizes and the most enthusiastic participants, was divided into 2 rounds spread on two days. After the opening ceremony, the 80 teams who participated in the programming competition reached IST Lab LUMS for Round 1 of the contest. The problems designed on international standards were distributed and the race against time began. The programming competition went on for two hours after which 54 teams were eliminated and 26 teams qualified for the next round to be held on Day 2.

As intriguing as the name sounds, Hackathon was a much-anticipated module of CodinGuru2.0. It was sponsored by Facebook DevC Lahore and took place at the Sohail Aslam Lab at Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering SBASSE LUMS. With 24 hours to create an application, the teams competed enthusiastically for prizes worth 30,000 PKR. Needless to say, by the end of the competition, the judges did get to see a lot of impressive applications. After shortlisting the top 10 teams, they were asked to give presentations in CS Smart Lab which was followed by Q&A session by Judges.
